This photograph was taken on my first day volunteering at Aquinas Literacy Center with Obdulia Vega. At the time, I could not have imagined how important our connection would become. What began as a tutoring relationship soon evolved into a collaboration with Obdulia becoming a trusted thought partner, participant, and co-creator in many of the programs and community spaces that have grown from this work.
